Hodgepodge Writings

Time for the weekly Hodgepodge which is set by Joyce at the blog From This Side of the Pond.

1. What keeps you blogging?

A love of writing and sharing keeps me blogging. Also connecting with other bloggers around the world and reading so many great blogs. Some days it can be difficult as my mind just goes blank, but usually I can get it working in time to post for that particular day.

2. Some people like to travel in the winter months. Do you enjoy the beach in winter? According to Southern Living the best U.S. beach towns to visit this winter are-

St Simons Island (Georgia), Hilton Head (South Carolina), Bald Head Island (North Carolina), Seaside (Florida), Bay St. Louis (Mississippi), Cape San Blas (Florida), South Padre Island (Texas), Folly Beach (South Carolina), Chincoteague (Virginia), Duck Key (Florida), Nags Head (North Carolina), and Fairhope (Alabama)

Have you been to any of the towns listed (in any season)? Which on the list appeals to you most this winter?

I've not been to any of the towns listed above and as I'm on the opposite side of the world Iwon't be this winter. We have lots of beautiful beaches where we live in the highlands of Scotland and they're perfect for a long walk on a crisp winters day.

3. What's a song you're embarrassed to know all the lyrics to? Are you really embarrassed or do just think you should be?

I'm not really embarrassed by this but I think a lot of my friends would be embarrassed for me, and that is because I know the lyrics off by heart of every song in the film Grease 2 (1982) which starred Michelle Pfeiffer and Maxwell Caulfield. This film is one of my guilty pleasures and it's great to sing along to.

4. When you were a kid what's something you thought would be fantastic as an adult, but now that you're an adult you realize it's not all that fantastic?

Being able to stay up as late as you want no matter what day of the week it is. The problem with that is that as an adult I do have to get up to go to work so this isn't as wonderful as it sounds.

5. Share a quote you hope will inspire you in 2018.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

The view this week out of the building I work in. The garden was designed by Charles Jencks and is based on the concept of healthy cell division.

What song do you love singing along to when no one else is listening? Before you go, make sure you hop over to Joyce's Blog to see what my fellow bloggers have come up with for their answers.

Until next time, be good, stay safe, and listen to your favourite music this week.

    1. Singing loudly with musical soundtracks is a great thing to do. You must visit Scotland, it's incredibly beautiful.

  2. My mind is cluttered with songs from the 1940's and 50's. But I no longer sing as sell as I used to.

  3. We don't chase warm weather in the winter. We aren't much for traveling so we tend to stay home. We go boating, but that's the most travel we do.

    Have a fabulous day. ♥

  5. Hi Pam - I do not know a song completely through ...shows my non-musical life. I tend to stay put and travel when the time comes along - I haven't been to any of those places, neither have I been to Scotland much ... one day! But not in the winter - cheers Hilary

    1. I think it's not until you hear an old song that you realise you know most of the words, whereas if someone asked me to sing it I wouldn't have a clue.
      Have a lovely day.
