Our song for today could only come from Elvis and it is the hauntingly beautiful And I Love You So.
Now when I was debating what to use as my E word I asked my beloved what he thought E should be for. His suggestions were; Erotic, and Erogenous!! Strangely enough I didn't choose one of those and instead went for his one sensible idea which is Exploring.
Marriage involves exploration of many different types, especially as you get to know each other. It's getting to know likes and dislikes in all areas - physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual. I don't mean that you should agree with each others views on the world, as your individuality is what attracted you to each other, but understanding what each of you have as your values and beliefs in life.
Exploring is also about finding out about this world together, having new experiences, and being curious about life. E is also for encouragement, and some of the things we've explored over the years would never have happened if it wasn't for my beloved's encouragement - I can be a bit of a scaredy cat at times.
I hope you haven't stopped being curious about the world or, if you're married, your special person.
This is a perfect quote, and captures what I've been saying:

Exploring could tie in nicely with erotic and erogenous ;)

It is a wonderful adventure when we explore the ones we care about and learn what makes them who they are. Also makes exploring the world around us more interesting.
ReplyDeleteVery true, about exploring :) I read a book recently that said that you fall in love with the same person multiple times for different reasons :)

Pamela,
ReplyDeleteFirst I want to make a suggestion concerning your Gravatar profile. You do not have your blog URL linked to it, so unless you leave your signature each time in comments (or if you add it to your Gravatar profile) then it makes it difficult for others to find you. Just a thought is all. I want everyone to find his/her way to your lovely blog.
Okay, yes exploring is a great topic for today's letter prompt. DH & I love to explore new places ore visit familiar locations. Marriage can be constant field trip of exploration as you evolve as one in your union as two individuals sharing common passions. I love that DH is more than just my husband, he's my best friend!

I love this, and also the comment right above mine ties in nicely to my thoughts about your post. I've been married for 25 years, and in some ways it feels like we're finally mature enough to start getting to know each other. It's weird and wonderful at the same time.

You have an empowering husband too. I do too. I've a feeling that we married like husbands. So far that's what I'm seeing. Isn't it wonderful. Yes it is.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day. ♥
Love this quote and Elvis song. I found your post interesting.
ReplyDeleteE is for excellent- as in this post. I think exploring new places is a good way to grow closer as a couple. Great song choice too.
ReplyDeleteI just like exploring in general. I like learning knew things each day without the need for a significant other. They say you should learn something new every day.
ReplyDeleteLoved this post! Wonderful quote and nice choice of song! :)
ReplyDeleteExploring, encouragement is absolutely right! And applies for the newly married and those in 'double digit' years as well! :-) Happy AtoZ!!
