Today's song is Tina Arena (another Australian) with Whistle Down the Wind.
What we've discovered during our twenty years together, is that a true test of your relationship is travelling by plane for over twenty four hours to the other side of the world. We have done that nightmarish journey at least six times together - it may be more, and yet we've never fallen out. We've seen lots of other harassed people and overheard several heated arguments over the years - travel can bring out the worst and the best in people.
We love having time away together, whether it's all the way to Australia or just down the road to somewhere in this country. I think it's important to have holidays together as it's a chance to reconnect with each other without all the normal distractions around. We went to the Isle of Skye last year for a week and we didn't turn the TV on once during that time - it was so nice just to be together talking, reading, and listening to music when we weren't out enjoying the great outdoors.
Travel has it's own special kind of romance and there is joy in walking into the sea on a different continent.

Trying new foods is a great part of travel, and there is romance in watching my beloved try and eat messy food like shellfish - he hates using his hands to eat but because he knows I love this type of food he will still order it to share with me.

Hubby and I have spent long hours traveling from one place to another. We've never had an argument either. We travel like you do. I've heard some heated arguments though. Sad.
ReplyDeleteWe are so much alike. Hubby didn't like to eat ribs because you really need to pick them up. He doesn't have a problem now. We just pick them up and enjoy.
I so have enjoyed your A to Z Challenge. Some of your posts hubby and I could have written.
Have a fabulous day you two lovebirds. ♥
You captured the spirit of travel very nicely!

I don't like to travel but I might change my mind about that if traveling with a partner.
ReplyDeletegood T post. have a lovely day.
All that time on a plane is a true test. Another test is 7 days without power which we had from a storm in 2011 :)
ReplyDeletePamela,
ReplyDeleteLove the quote! We do not take vacations except on rare occasions but we do often venture out for the day which offers the same benefits. We get to spend time together, enjoying places we love to explore, looking for neat treats to eat, taking photographs, talking up a storm, laughing, and relaxing. It's safe to say we are happy together! :)
